In field work begeben sich Hannah Schillinger und Aaron Lang gemeinsam mit Soundkünstler*in Slowfoam in eine Landschaft, die geprägt ist von körperlicher Arbeit, organischen Rhythmen und gemeinschaftlichen Ritualen. In dieser hyperrealen Simulation erforschen sie das kulturelle Erbe alpiner Bauernkultur und fragen, wie Folklore aufgebrochen werden und queer sein kann. Arbeitend und träumend machen sie sich auf die Suche nach neuen Erzählungen und kultivieren einen Raum, in dem sich Natur, Mensch und Technologie auf ein Gleichgewicht zubewegen. field work ist eine Einladung, genauer hinzusehen: auf ein Feld, das nicht nur Erde trägt, sondern auch Spuren von Erinnerungen, Stimmen, Wünsche und Bewegungen.

In field work, Hannah Schillinger, Aaron Lang, and sound artist Slowfoam, enter a landscape shaped by physical labor, organic rhythms, and collaborative rituals. In this hyperreal simulation, they explore the cultural heritage of alpine farming culture and ask how folklore can be cracked open and queer. Working and dreaming, they set out in search of new narratives and cultivate a space in which nature, humans, and technology move toward an equilibrium. field work is an invitation to look closely: at a field that not only carries soil, but also traces of memories, voices, wishes and movements.

With “field work” I wanted to connect to regional farming culture and local histories but without any form of nationalism or patriotism or shame involved, instead cracking it open and, with the help of auto fiction, finding a new access in a personal way, acknowledging and naming one’s white identity, confronting oneself with one’s heritage, and seeing one’s agencies, responsibilities and possibilities therein.
